Elevator modernization
The shaft and guide rails usually stay. The control, car, doors and panels change — and the elevator runs like a new one.
Modernization is the middle ground between a repair that keeps recurring and a full replacement a building often cannot afford. We start with a survey: assessing the shaft, the guide rails and the machine room, because those are the parts that can usually be kept.
Then the obsolete parts are replaced. Relay control gives way to a variable-frequency drive — which governs both ride quality and electricity consumption. The car gets a new interior, the door mechanism a modern operator, and the landing call panels are replaced with ones whose parts are still made.
The work can be staged so the building spends as little time as possible without a lift. Exactly where the stages divide depends on the building — one of the questions the survey answers, and it is written into the proposal rather than left until later.
What it covers
Control system replacement
A variable-frequency drive in place of relay control — a smoother ride and lower consumption.
Car refurbishment
New interior, lighting, car panel and floor.
Door mechanism
A modern operator, with parts that are still in production.
Landing panels and communication
Call panels, floor indication and two-way communication with the dispatcher.
Common questions
01Does modernization cost less than a new elevator?
Usually yes, because the shaft, guide rails and machine room remain — the most expensive part in construction terms. By how much depends on what of the existing installation can be kept, and the survey decides that. We do not name a figure before it.
02How long will the building be without a lift?
It is one of the first questions residents ask, and it is exactly why the work is planned in stages. The precise length of the interruption is part of the written proposal you get after the survey.
